Tournament rules
How the tournaments of Mage Fortress run, how the prize pool is split and what happens when there are too few players
Tournaments are knockout battles: the loser leaves the bracket, the winner moves on until one champion is left. Every tournament game is played in the Archmage's Citadel. 20 s per turn, at most 10 min per game.

How a tournament runs
- 1
XX:00Registration
Any player may sign up. The fee is taken at once; you can leave before the start and get it back. Registration lasts 10 min.
- 2
XX:10Draw and bracket
Places in the bracket are drawn at random. In a gold tournament bots take the free places, so the bracket is always full.
- 3
RoundMatches
Each match is one game: 20 s per turn, at most 10 min per game. When your match starts, the site takes you to the table.
- 4
NextThe next match
As soon as both opponents are known, their match starts in 15 s — no waiting for the whole round.
- 5
FinalChampion and prizes
After the final the prizes go straight to the balances, and the champion gets a cup in the profile.
Prize pool
The pool is every player's fee minus the commission (0%). The pool goes to the half of the players who move on in the bracket and grows with every win: each next round roughly doubles the prize. Losing in the first round wins nothing.
Formula
prize = fee × 2·(2ʷ − 1) / log₂N
w — rounds the player passed, N — places in the bracket. The rounding remainder goes to the champion.
Example: «Moon Deck» for gold
- 1st place×121 007
- 2nd place×110 333
- Semi-final×25 000
- Quarter-final×42 333
- 1/8 final×81 000
- 1/16 final×16333
- 1/32 final×32—
Example bracket of 8 players
This is how a bracket looks: the first round on the left, the final and the champion on the right. Above each round is the prize of a player who goes out there. On a tournament's page the bracket updates live: running matches glow and you can watch them.

Personal tournaments
Any player can create a tournament: choose the currency (gold or money), the fee from each player (up to 1 000 000) and the bracket size — 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64 players. The creator takes the first seat and pays the fee. Others join only with the invitation link. When the bracket is full, everyone sees a countdown: the first round starts in 60 s. Until it starts, the creator can cancel it and players can leave. You can create a new personal tournament only after the previous one ends.
If not everyone joins within 24 h, the tournament disappears, the fees go back — and it has to be created again.
